Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve
The Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve of Nicaragua, is located to the south of the city of Granada and the Islets of Granada. The beauty of its landscapes and the richness of its flora and fauna make this place a unique place. Its climate is very pleasant. Everything is nature. The site is not only imposing and wonderful but the eastern part of the park is still preserved virgin to human exploration. From the explosion of the volcano formed the Islets of Granada. Mombacho Volcano – Nicaragua
This volcano is located in the Mombacho Volcano Natural Park and has a height of 1400 meters above sea level (it is the fifth volcano of the Nicaraguan chain).
Extinguished a long time ago, it is completely covered with vegetation that forms a particular ecosystem where 50 species of mammals live, 174 species of birds, 30 species of reptiles or amphibians and 750 different species of flora.
You can reach the summit by walking or using appropriate vehicles to climb slopes. On that are a scientific laboratory and a small museum, from here you can make different walks along trails that border the main crater of the extinct volcano. Also characteristic are the noises of nature amplified by the crater
Along the paths there are natural perforations of round shape emanating hot vapors; For the rest is advised the panoramic point from which you can admire the lake Cocibolca, the lagoon of Apoyo and the city of Granada.
